Evolution to Supply Chain Management

Maxim Industries evolved from an industrial fasteners stockholder to a global sourcing and supply chain management business, servicing major clients in the UK, Europe and North America. The business was born from increasing globalisation and pressure from overseas imports. British manufacturing was demanding a solution.

In 2001 Maxim Industries Ltd was established to provide global sourcing and supply chain management services to British, European and North American manufacturers. As news spread about Maxim the key accounts from the industrial fasteners business quickly became clients of Maxim Industries. The customer had asked for a solution and Maxim had provided it. Before long Maxim had evolved into a very successful business with a network of highly vetted manufacturing partners around the world. From its first few clients Maxim Industries had quickly grown into a go to global sourcing authority, supplying components, products and sub-assemblies to a wide spectrum of different market sectors. The range of sectors supplied had become extremely diverse from industrial batteries and electrical switchgear to healthcare and brewery hardware. Before long Maxim’s global sourcing service was helping so many businesses to gain competitive advantage that much of the company’s new business was being generated through word of mouth and referrals.

By 2006 Maxim had occupied a purpose built logistics and distribution facility in Horwich, South Lancashire just 20 miles from Manchester – the world’s first industrialised city. The move to a purpose built distribution centre allowed diversification into an even wider spectrum of market sectors, servicing more clients with a wider range of products. The larger warehousing capability also enabled more businesses to benefit from UK stockholding allowing them to operate a just in time system.

In 2010 Maxim Industries opened their first overseas office in Ningbo Eastern China. The office in China houses a team of Maxim employed engineers who help the UK HQ to maintain quality standards.

2013 – Maxim continues to widen the number of markets they supply and continue to increase their network of highly vetted and inspected world manufacturing partners. Recent new markets include bespoke industrial castors used by major manufacturers in the European waste management industry.
